Indio Skilled Nursing Facility Recognized for Excellence
Named among top in state by federal government
INDIO (Dec. 13, 2010) – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has recognized Indio Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as the recipient of a distinguished Five-Star rating – the highest distinction a nursing facility can receive. Indio Nursing & Rehabilitation is the only nursing facility in the Coachella Valley to receive the Five-Star designation.
Only 10% of California’s 1,250 nursing facilities are able to achieve a Five-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The rating is calculated by considering a facility’s staff-to-patient ratio, regulatory compliance and success with quality/clinical measures.
“This recognition reflects the incredible care our staff delivers on a daily basis to our residents,” said Cort Green, Indio Nursing & Rehabilitation Center’s Administrator. “In an often thankless job, they demonstrate incredible love and compassion to our residents.”
Built in 1996, the 99-bed Indio Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is operated by Legacy HealthCare. The facility recently opened a 32-bed sub-acute unit, the only one of its kind in the Coachella Valley. A sub-acute unit treats patients with more severe health complications than most standard nursing facilities including residents on ventilators, those receiving tracheotomy care and advanced wound treatment. Residents recovering from surgery or stroke also have access to full-service physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy.
